chirp-v4-5

A song and instrumental music creation model, from inspiration to custom lyrics

Suno V4.5 focuses on improving style adherence, style blending, vocal performance, and complex arrangements, making it suitable for turning more detailed musical intent into listenable songs. The platform invocation ID is chirp-v4-5, and it can be combined with original lyrics, styles, and vocal preferences to explore options. Official longer songs and full product editing features do not mean fixed duration or all available actions for each invocation on this platform.

Core Capabilities

Learn what chirp-v4-5 can bring to your work.

Make genre and instrument relationships clearer

The official description emphasizes more accurate genre interpretation and better-coordinated genre blends. You can describe melody, beat, lead vocals, and instrument roles at the same time—for example, a folk melody with electronic beats—then judge the degree of integration by the actual listening experience rather than simply counting whether keywords appear.

Leave more room for style descriptions

Custom mode can accommodate longer style descriptions, making it suitable for specifying genres, instrument combinations, rhythmic feel, and vocal character at the same time. Vocal gender can be included as a preference in the creative requirements. In actual use, highlight the core sonic direction, avoid stacking contradictory labels, and use listening tests to determine whether the vocals and arrangement meet expectations.

Continue creating around existing songs

A satisfactory first draft can retain its song ID for continuation or cover versions: continuation focuses on adding subsequent sections, while a cover version reinterprets the song with the existing track as a reference. When you need to reuse a singer's style, you can first create a Persona and then use it for style-consistent creation, establishing a reusable sonic direction across different songs.

Use Cases

Start with specific tasks to find where the model can be effective.

Turn original lyrics into demo tracks

Enter lyrics marked with verses, choruses, and bridges, then add a title and target style to generate demo tracks for discussing melody, vocals, and arrangement direction. This is suitable for lyricists presenting concepts to collaborators, with deliverables focused on audio and lyrics; before finalizing, pay particular attention to diction, repeated sections, and emotional progression.

Explore music directions for content projects

Write prompts around the video's theme, narrative mood, and desired musical atmosphere, then choose instrumental creation to obtain soundtrack options you can preview. You can explore directions such as warm acoustic and upbeat electronic separately, then hand suitable audio over to the editing workflow. When precise timing is required, trim and arrange according to the actual final runtime.

Extend songs and create a series sound

Provide an audio ID, continuation boundary, and new lyrics for an existing song to try adding a bridge or a new ending; you can also explore another style through a cover version. For a song series, first save a suitable Persona, then reuse the singer's style. When delivering, retain each song's ID and audio to facilitate later comparison, continuation, and version management.

How to choose this model

Choose based on task complexity, input materials, and expected results.

Upgrading from V4: prioritize text control needs

Compared with chirp-v4, chirp-v4-5 expands custom lyric input from 3000 characters to 5000 characters, style descriptions from 200 characters to 1000 characters, and provides vocal gender preferences. If lyrics are long, or you need to describe instruments, atmosphere, and vocal direction at the same time, V4.5 makes it easier to express requirements; this does not mean the results will automatically better match aesthetic preferences every time.

Distinguishing it from V4.5+: choose the version by work length

chirp-v4-5 and chirp-v4-5-plus are different versions, and the latter should not be treated as the same invocation name. When you need to continue existing V4.5 works and creation settings, you can continue choosing this model; when you place greater importance on long-form song planning, you may consider V4.5+. Regardless of which version you choose, use the finished audio preview and actual duration to determine whether the work is complete, rather than relying only on the expected duration parameter.

Getting started: explore blended genres and vocal expression

Arrange the inputs first, then connect them to the corresponding application workflow.

Prepare inputs

Prepare original lyrics, choose two genres that can be combined, and describe the roles of the lead vocal and instruments.

Organize the invocation and subsequent workflow

Explicitly select chirp-v4-5. Use prompt for theme-based creation; for custom creation, organize lyric, style, and title according to this model's limits. Save task_id, obtain audio_url after waiting for the completed result, and archive it together with the work ID and creation settings.

Practical task example: explore blended genres and vocal expression

Design tasks directly from the following inputs and acceptance priorities.

Suggested task

Use custom mode to describe “a blend of folk melodies and electronic beats, intimate verses and expansive choruses, highlighting acoustic guitar and soft synthesizers.”

Key checks

Focus on whether the genres are blended, the instrumental layers, and emotional changes, rather than only checking whether specified keywords are present; do not interpret preference parameters as precise acoustic controls.

Usage Boundaries

Before formal use, understand the output quality and capability range.

  • Vocal gender is a preference, not a specified singer or strict voice lock; Persona should also be understood as a reusable singer style. When vocal performance requirements are high, you need to listen for diction, timbre, and transitions between sections; do not judge whether the result is acceptable based solely on parameter values.
  • The expected duration does not equal the exact delivered length; filling in duration does not guarantee that the song will reach the target number of seconds. For intros, advertisements, or video cue-point tasks, read the actual duration in the result, then trim, fade in/out, or arrange it on the timeline.
  • Continuation is not a full-song lyric replacement: the source audio before continue_at retains its original content, and the new lyrics only guide creation after the boundary. The returned lyric is also not a word-for-word transcription of the complete audio; if you want to use new lyrics from the beginning, generate again and listen to the result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions when using chirp-v4-5.

Are chirp-v4-5 and chirp-v4-5-plus the same model?

No. The former corresponds to V4.5, while the latter corresponds to V4.5+; you need to specify the model ID separately when calling them. Existing V4.5 works can continue to be iterated with this model; if you place greater importance on long-form creation, you can consider V4.5+, but do not confuse the duration and editing capabilities of different versions.

I have already written the lyrics. How should I generate the song?

Use custom mode, set custom to true, submit lyric, and fill in title and style as needed. Lyrics can use verse, chorus, and bridge markers to organize the structure. Compared with inspiration mode, this approach is more suitable for clearly controlling text content, then adjusting the musical performance through listening.

How can I create instrumental music without vocals?

You can set instrumental in inspiration mode and use prompt to describe the music's purpose, mood, and instrumental direction. For example, state that you want an acoustic soundtrack for quiet narration, rather than simply writing “pleasant.” You still need to listen after generation to confirm that the musical atmosphere and actual length suit the content.

When I provide new lyrics during continuation, will the earlier lyrics be changed?

No. extend continues creation according to the boundary specified by continue_at; the new lyrics are used only for subsequent segments, and the preceding source audio will not have its lyrics replaced for the entire song. If you want to use another set of lyrics from the beginning, use generate to create again rather than treating continuation as a full-text replacement.

How do I integrate generation tasks into an application and obtain audio?

Submit a request to /suno/audios and explicitly specify chirp-v4-5. Setting async=true lets you obtain task_id first and then query the completion status; you can also configure a callback. After completion, read audio_url, lyrics, and the actual duration from data, and save the song ID for subsequent creation.
